Girl Child Programme

Vocational Training

This program was started to promote girls who cannot afford to continue their education due to lack of school fees mainly orphans and vulnerable girls, widows and single mothers to receive training in sewing and tailoring and to become self reliant, promote development within the community and become effective members of the society.

The program aims at creating a group that would eventually manage itself as a small business. Started in 2007 with few girls, Home Adventure Voluntary and Community Development Project hired a trainer to train the group in the dressmaking and some other items that they would sell out in the market. The program has quickly picked up and will soon open to outsiders (non-targets) at subsidized fees to sustain the project.

Still in its early stage, the group is soon to start making school uniforms and sell to schools and the community. These girls and women, who previously had little or no income to support themselves and their children will be improving their lives and those of their children. The program has also given opportunity to girls who have become responsible for the care of their siblings due to the death of their parents.

REQUIREMENTS:
